Sopot

Country: Poland
from: Polish Lady Abroad

Sopot, situated by the Baltic Sea (actually the Baltic Bay), together with Gdynia and Gdansk it is part of so-called the Tricity. Sopot has the longest wooden pier in Europe. Every year the pier is partially demolished by the sea in the winter and renovated in the spring.

Sopot is a small city but it is very popular among tourists who enjoy its unique atmosphere, sandy beach and the opera built in the woods (among others).

If you still have not been there, the city is worth visiting. From Sopot, you can go by commuter train to Gdansk (not far) and to Gdynia as well.
