Książ Castle

Książ Castle is the largest castle in Silesia, Poland. It was built from 1288 to 1292 (gothic, rococo and baroque style). I visited the place in 2005, hardly can remember it, though.

Sangkhlaburi

Sangkhlaburi is a small town in Kanchanaburi province. The place is popular with Thais as a weekend destination spot. Known for its wooden bridge (400 meters high) and tranquil landscape/atmosphere.

Berlin

I have not been to Berlin so it is nice to get a postcard and dream about a visit in the city. It is the capital city of germany, it has about 3 million and 700,000 inhabitants. Berlin is situated by the banks of the Spree and Havers rivers.

Tallinn, Estonia

Tallinn is the capital city of Estonia. It is situated by the Gulf of Finland. Tallinn was granted city rights in 1248. It used to be ruled by a Danish king, then other Scandinavians and Germans as well. It belonged to the Hanseatic League. Tallinn is the headquarters of the EU IT bureau. The city old town is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Another place which would be nice to visit.

Mers-les-Bains

Mers-les-Bains is a commune in norther France, in the Hauts-de-France region. It has only around 3,500 inhabitants. The place seems really lovely. No wonder quite a few writers, including Verne and Hugo, used to work there. We would also love to visit the place one day, if it was possible.

Polish School in Paris

The postcard was issued to commemorate the Polish School in Paris funding anniversary. The school consists of primary school and high school. Its part-time classes are run on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The School at Batignolles is situated at the Polish Embassy in Paris.

Ibiza is one of the Spanish Balearic Islands, located in the Mediterranean Sea. The capital city of Ibiza is Ibiza Town. The population of the island is over 130,000 people. The official languages of Ibiza are Spanish and Catalan.


Correos - the name of Spanish national postal service which was founded in 1716.

Nimes is a city and the Gard department capital, situated in the south of France. The origin of the settlement dates back to 4000 - 3500 BC. Seems to be a lovely place with so many interesting things to see there!

Brussels Royal Greenhouses of Laeken

The greenhouses were built in the 19th century. They are part of the Royal Park of Laeken, situated in Brussels. The complex (area: 270,000 square feet) is open for visitors in April and May. During that short period, the magnificent collection of flowers from Africa and other parts of the world bloom.

Vienna Palmenhaus

The Palm House is situated in the Schönbrunn palace park which is part of the Austrian Federal Gardens. There are over four thousand species of various plants to watch and admire. A must see when in Vienna.

The Republic of Austria has been a member of the European Union (since 1995) and NATO (since 1955). Some of the major Austrian cities are Gratz, Innsbruck, Salzburg and Linz. Vienna, the capital, is the largest one. It would be nice to visit the country one day.

A Surprise from Corsica

Corsica is a French island situated in the Mediterranean Sea, not far from Italian Sardinia.
Napoleon was born in Corsica 1769. The capital of Corsica is Ajaccio.

Belgian Characters

All the characters depicted on the card are of Belgian origin. Unfortunately, I recognize only two of them - the blue Smurf and Lucky Luke. Can you name all the other ones?

South Africa

Cape Town is the second biggest and most populated city in South Africa. The harbor reminds me of quite a different city, in a totally different part of the world - I mean my home city which also has a nice marina.

The Town Hall in Frankenberg  was build over 500 years ago, in 1509.

Oxford was founded in the 8th century. It was granted the city rights in 1542. Oxford is situated in the southeast of England. It is home to the oldest university in the English-speaking part of the world.

Moulin Rouge (Red Mill) is a well-known cabaret in Paris. Founded by Joseph Oller and Chris Zidler, the Moulin Rouge was opened on Oct. 6, 1889.

Another Very Snail Mail Card

It seems the snail mail service really deserves its name these days. After almost a month we got another Christmas card (which was posted by air mail a week before Christmas). Although my relatives paid for fast delivery, we got such a slow service in exchange. Disappointing.

This card came after Christmas due to the very slow postal service. Sent by airmail on Dec. 11, 2016, arrived here on Jan. 10, 2017. It should have been in our mail box within 7-8 days only, not after a month time.

The iris belongs to the family of Iridaceae plants. 'Iris' means 'rainbow' in Greek. There are over 200 kinds of irises, they grow in the wild in Northern hemisphere zones.
